Reading response

My reading response from last week.

Whatś a puoro?

This term we have also been exploring something we have made. Puoro! Puoro is a Maori instrument that can be told more about in my story. It was fun making them and blowing them, and if you want one, you can make one with the instructions in my story.

What’s a puoro

What is a puoro? A puoro is a Maori instrument; used to make a whistling sound. And sounds like an old lady whaling. It is an interesting sound that could be for kapa haka. And for other Maori traditions. And also for sending messages. Also to calm people down. And itś also a bit easy to make. ( Have you made a taonga puoro before?) It's heaps of fun. But how do you make a puoro? Well, let's find out.

When you Make a puoro. It will be a bit hard but it will be cool once it has dried up. Firstly, You have to Break the red clay into equal halves. Then once it is in equal halves you start scrunching it up then roll it into a ball. Then do the same to the other one. Then after that, you have to Poke your Thumb into the middle of the clay ball, Then start to pinch it a bit till it makes a little bowl. After that you use a pick or a pencil to scrape the edges of the bowl all around, Then thatś when you put it together and it will turn into a big ball, then slowly smooth the clay onto the other side to block the edges, after that, you put your pinky into the middle of the puoro and then let it dry off.

Once it has dried off you can start to blow on it. To know how to blow on it you have to put half your mouth on and then just blow normally and it will make a whistling noise. If it won't blow you will have to restart the whole process over again. Then a lot of people would design it with A toothpick.

Lastly, What is a puoro, And how do you make it then what does it do. After all of that You wait till the whole thing dries out it would be more accurate and easier to blow. And then now you will know how to make a puoro.

Fair testing

This term we have been carrying out fair testing with the experiment and control testing. it was fun doing this cause I got to make it. I and the class enjoyed doing this and should do it next term.

Reflection-

Bike ride in Waitangi

Event 1

On the weekend we went to Waitangi for camp. Throughout camp, we went and did some activities. Such

as canoeing, Swimming, bombing, and mountain biking. on the way there we drove

across a bridge going to the museum. Then slowly going past a golf course with

an amazing view. After about 5-10 minutes we had arrived, all of the bros Kash,

Kayden, Tumu, Mikaere, Levi, charlie, komene, Hawaiki, and I
` were checking the bikes and getting the bikes that would suit us.

Event 2

Woah!, everyone freaked out. Staring at the bikes. I was freaking out because I have never

ridden a bike with long bars,  disc brakes, and Gangster shocks. I had started to tear

up when we got to ride them cause I've never touched a bike that Terrific. We all had

a practice on the pump track till we went. Well everyone was on the pump track I went

on the gravel to do some wheelies. Then the manager went to explain what the tracks

were and where not to go. Then just before we were about to leave, whaea Lana told

us to take a photo on our bikes altogether, then we started our ride.

Reflection

Ten minutes in, most of the people were already tired. But I and Kayden were just

doing wheelies the whole time until we got to the tracks. It was fun till it started getting

super hot. Uphills downhills, then all that sun went away, then came the rain. I was

filled with joy. Every turn we took I slid across then like I was riding on slime. Everyone

got tired so we stopped for a quick break, then whaea said,” Come on, let's go”.So we

carried on and came up against another huge hill! Then we ended back at the shop,

By the time we finished we were soaked with dirt so we drove to the Waitangi wharf,

jumped in our undies, and went for a couple of manus.

In the first term, our class went to N.C to do swimming. When our swimming finished for the Term we Have to Do an assessment of our self,  And to mark our selves. And to become a better swimmer. I enjoyed swimming a lot because, in the end, we get to do manus.
